Review by hotel critic
La Cedille - French Heritage House is a quaint spot nestled in Pondicherry, ideal for those who appreciate a mix of charm and convenience. The staff, especially Emil, were wonderfully accommodating, allowing for an early check-in which was a lifesaver after a long train journey. The location is superb, placing you mere minutes from delightful cafés and the stunning rock beach. The experience was marred by frequent power cuts, and the overlooked cleanliness of the room left much to be desired. It's a shame because the property has so much potential with its lovely garden and terrace that could be inviting spaces if better maintained. Breakfast was a mixed bag; while some items hit the mark, the cold presentation and lack of proper service detracted from the overall experience. If you're looking for a convenient place to rest your head and explore, La Cedille has its merits, but be prepared for a few hiccups along the way. For a stay that truly embraces the heritage, I'd be inclined to recommend exploring other options that may offer a more consistent level of hospitality.
